When an AI project does not start with AI, but with a business problem.
Master's thesis case for Skøyenåsen Dental Clinic: GenAI value in the patient journey — illustrated with a comic summarising the implementation journey.
In my master's thesis in Generative AI for Business at BI, I have worked on a concrete case for Skøyenåsen Dental Clinic. 🦷
The goal has not only been to build a new website, chatbot or digital solutions. It has been to understand where GenAI can actually create value in a real business. 📈
✅ The project focuses on the customer and patient journey around delivery and treatment: information, needs clarification, booking, follow-up and recall.
🚫 Not diagnosis. Not treatment advice. Not automation of professional judgements.
It is about understanding the problem, building concretely, taking risk seriously and knowing where people must still own the decision.
For me personally, the learning has been significant. Not only in using AI tools, prompt work and strategic tech understanding, but also in driving an AI project from problem understanding to concrete deliverables.
At the same time, the thesis has provided a framework for describing the full implementation journey: business need, solution, roadmap, risk, governance, privacy, scaling and human accountability.
Results are now taking shape: new website, text/speech-to-text chatbot in 6 languages, booking, needs clarification, follow-up and recall.
Perhaps your organisation recognises the same needs, or is curious about how AI can be used more concretely, safely and with real value creation? Please get in touch for a conversation.
The comic summarises the journey.
